This story, in which Israels favored son is sold into slavery and rises through divine providence to govern Egypt, sets the stage for Mosess liberation of the Israelites throughout the next two books of the Torah, and is the inspiration for Andrew Lloyd Webbers Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, an absolute classic of musical theatre and/or peak cringe
